HISTORY
The Sacramento Art Deco Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 1991, dedicated to preserving all aspects of the Art Deco period. Our aim is to raise awareness and appreciation of Art Deco. Our activities center around the preservation, education, history and entertainment of this unique era. SADS supports new and exciting events to keep the awareness of Art Deco alive.
PRESERVATION
SADS is a member of the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies (ICADS). We participate in projects supporting the preservation of 1920s-1940s buildings in Sacramento and the surrounding areas. SADS presents Preservation Awards to deserving person(s) and/or agencies.
EVENTS
Enjoying and recreating the ambience of the Art Deco lifestyle is what makes SADS events! SADS fun events include: auctions, theatre tours, holiday parties, vintage picnics, car tours, movie nights, museum exhibits, walking tours, special events and more!
Our Lecture Series is held regularly at the East Lawn Memorial Park in its renovated 1926 Art Deco building at 43rd and Folsom Blvd. The lectures include a wide range of topics: architecture, movies, design, fashion, music, art, vintage cars, book authors and more! Doors open at 7 pm and lecture begins at 7:30 pm.
OUR LOGO
Our logo was inspired by a design detail on the Ransohoff building at 1029 K Street, Sacramento. Using this local Art Deco design for our society’s logo underscores SADS commitment to local preservation and education endeavors.
